Groaning Ice

I had never walked on a frozen lake before and despite the ice being multiple feet thick, it still made an inordinate amount of groaning and cracking noises. It took me quite a while before I was able to ignore this and finally focus on taking some photographs!

My friend and I made it to this location quite early and we were lucky that we did. After shooting the best of the sunrise I looked behind me and was startled to see a handful of other photographers. It is hard to tell from this perspective but this is a massive mountain that dominates the skyline. Most of the time it was shrouded in clouds when we drove by.
